Shu Di Huang Radix Rehmanniae glutinosae praeparata 15 g
Shan Yao Radix Dioscoreae oppositae 9 g
Shan Zhu Yu Fructus Corni officinalis 9 g
Gou Qi Zi Fructus Lycii chinensis 9 g
Chuan Niu Xi Radix Cyathulae 6 g
Tu Si Zi Semen Cuscutae 9 g
Lu Jiao Cornu Cervi 9 g
Gui Ban Jiao Colla Plastri Testudinis 9 g

Explanation


This formula, which has already been explained in Chapters 1 and 9 , tonifies Kidney-Yin. Niu
Xi and Lu Jiao within the formula strengthen the back.



  • To enhance its effect on the lower back add Wu Jia Pi Cortex Acanthopanacis radicis and
    Ji Xue Teng Caulis Millettiae seu Caulis Spatholobi.

  • If there are pronounced symptoms of Yin deficiency and Empty-Heat add Nu Zhen Zi
    Fructus Ligustri lucidi and Han Lian Cao Herba Ecliptae prostratae.

  • If there are symptoms of Damp-Cold in the lower back add Du Huo Radix Angelicae
    pubescentis.

  • If there are symptoms of Damp-Heat in the lower back add Huang Bo Cortex
    Phellodendri and Bi Xie Rhizoma Dioscoreae hypoglaucae.

  • If there is stasis of Blood in the back increase the dosage of Niu Xi Radix Cyathulae.
