Treatment principle The treatment principle adopted was to harmonize the Lesser Yang and
nourish Stomach-Yin. Only herbs were administered.


Herbal treatment A combination of Xiao Chai Hu Tang Small Bupleurum Decoction and
Sha Shen Mai Dong Tang Glehnia-Ophiopogon Decoction was used.
The first was used to clear the Lesser Yang and the second to nourish
Stomach-Yin.

Tian Hua Fen Radix Trichosanthis 4 g
Bian Dou Semen Dolichoris lablab 4 g
Tai Zi Shen Radix Pseudostellariae 4 g
Zhi Gan Cao Radix Glycyrrhizae uralensis praeparata 3 g
Da Zao Fructus Ziziphi jujubae 3 dates
Sheng Jiang Rhizoma Zingiberis officinalis recens 3 slices

Explanation The combination of these two prescriptions is ideally suited to this girl's
condition. One clears the Lesser Yang, the other nourishes
Stomach-Yin. In particular, this prescription also suits her symptoms
well because Sang Ye will not only soothe the throat but also alleviate
the headaches; Tian Hua Fen and Yu Zhu will moisten dryness; Bian
Dou will tonify Stomach and Spleen Yin while Tai Zi Shen nourishes
Stomach-Yin.


This girl needed only 20 days of treatment after which her condition
was completely cured.
