Explanation

This formula, which has already been explained in Chapter 8, is specific to clear residual Heat in
the Lungs after a Warm disease, nourish Yin after injury from Heat and benefit fluids.

Variations

• To strengthen the channels and benefit sinews in Atrophy Syndrome add Niu Xi Radix
  Achyranthis bidentatae seu Cyathulae, Ji Xue Teng Caulis Millettiae seu Caulis
  Spatholobi and Wu Jia Pi Cortex Acanthopanacis radicis.


• If symptoms of Heat are still pronounced add Zhi Mu Rhizoma Anemarrhenae
  asphodeloidis, Lian Qiao Fructus Forsythiae suspensae and Jin Yin Hua Flos Lonicerae
  japonicae.


• If there is a cough add Gua Lou Fructus Trichosanthis, Sang Bai Pi Cortex Mori albae
  radicis and Pi Pa Ye Folium Eriobotryae japonicae.


• If symptoms of dryness are pronounced add Tian Hua Fen Radix Trichosanthis, Yu Zhu
  Rhizoma Polygonati odorati and Bai He Bulbus Lilii.

Explanation

This tablet drains Lung-Fire and is suitable to treat an acute febrile episode which is beginning to
cause paralysis. This remedy is specific for Lung-Fire at the Qi Level and two conditions for its
use are a thick-dry-yellow (or black) tongue coating and dry stools.
