Stop Bleeding
The first simply consists in using stopping-bleeding herbs. These herbs stop bleeding from
whatever cause. As indicated above, they must never be used on their own but must always be
combined with herbs which treat the underlying cause of bleeding.
Examples of herbs that stop bleeding are:
Pu Huang Pollen Typhae
Xian He Cao Herba Agrimoniae pilosae
San Qi Radix Notoginseng
Bai Ji Rhizoma Bletillae striatae
Xiao Ji Herba Cephalanoplos segeti
Da Ji Herba Cirsii japonici
Di Yu Radix Sanguisorbae officinalis
Huai Hua Flos Sophorae japonicae immaturus
Qian Cao Gen Radix Rubiae cordifoliae
Ce Bai Ye Cacumen Biotae orientalis
Ai Ye Folium Artemisiae
Ou Jie Nodus Nelumbinis nuciferae rhizomatis Bai Mao Gen Rhizoma Imperatae
cylindricae Zao Xin Huang Tu (also called Fu Long Gan) Terra Flava usta
Although all these herbs will stop bleeding, they should be carefully selected keeping their
auxiliary properties in mind. We can classify the above herbs in three ways to help us select
them in a rational way:
- according to their nature (hot or cold)
- according to part of body and organ reached
- according to whether they move Blood or not.

Bai Ji, Da Ji, Xiao Ji, Di Yu, Huai Hua, Qian Cao Gen, Ce Bai Ye and Bai Mao Gen.
