Long Yan Rou Arillus Euphoriae longanae 12 g
Yuan Zhi Radix Polygalae tenuifoliae 9 g
Mu Xiang Radix Saussureae 6 g
Zhi Gan Cao Radix Glycyrrhizae uralensis praeparata 4 g
Sheng Jiang Rhizoma Zingiberis officinalis recens 3 slices

Explanation
This prescription, which has already been explained in Chapters 9 and 11 , is specific to stop
bleeding from Spleen-Qi deficiency.
Variations
- To harmonize Blood (stop bleeding, eliminate stasis, calm and nourish Blood) add Xiao
Ji Herba Cephalanoplos segeti, Hong Hua Flos Carthami tinctorii and Bai Shao Radix
Paeoniae albae. There is no need to add any herb to nourish Blood as the formula already
contains Dang Gui. - To astringe: there is no need to add an astringent as the formula already contains Suan
Zao Ren. - To treat Qi add Sheng Ma Rhizoma Cimicifugae and Chai Hu Radix Bupleuri to raise Qi.
