Dang Gui Radix Angelicae sinensis 6 g
Sheng Ma Rhizoma Cimicifugae 6 g
Explanation
This formula, which has already been explained in Chapter 1, clears Heat and cools Blood within
the Stomach.
Variations
- To harmonize Blood (stop bleeding, eliminate stasis, calm and nourish Blood) add Di Yu
Radix Sanguisorbae officinalis and San Qi Radix Notoginseng. No addition is necessary
to calm and nourish Blood as the formula already contains Sheng Di Huang and Dang
Gui. - To astringe add Lian Zi Semen Nelumbinis nuciferae.
- To treat Qi add Niu Xi Radix Achyranthis bidentatae seu Cyathulae to conduct Blood
downwards. - If the symptoms of Stomach-Yin deficiency are pronounced add Mai Men Dong Tuber
Ophiopogonis japonici and Tai Zi Shen Radix Pseudostellariae heterophyllae. - If there are pronounced symptoms of dryness from Yin deficiency and Empty-Heat add
Tian Hua Fen Radix Trichosanthis and Yu Zhu Rhizoma Polygonati odorati.
