Explanation



  • The first six herbs constitute the Tao Hong Si Wu Tang which nourishes and moves
    Blood.

  • Pu Huang and Wu Ling Zhi constitute the Shi Xiao San which moves Blood and stops
    pain. Pu Huang also stops bleeding.

  • Qian Cao Gen and San Qi are added because they move Blood and stop bleeding.


Variations



  • If the stasis of Blood derives from Cold in the uterus (tongue Bluish-Purple) add Ai Ye
    Folium Artemisiae and Fu Zi Radix Aconiti carmichaeli praeparata.

  • If the stasis of Blood derives from Heat (tongue Reddish-Purple) add Sheng Di Huang
    Radix Rehmanniae glutinosae, Mu Dan Pi Cortex Moutan radicis and Di Yu Radix
    Sanguisorbae officinalis.

Explanation


This tablet nourishes and moves Blood and is suitable to treat menorrhagia from Blood stasis
only in fairly mild cases.
