Explanation The first eight herbs constitute the root formula which clears
Lung-Heat, resolves Phlegm and restores the descending of Lung-Qi.

Stomach-Heat

Clinical Manifestations

High fever, intense thirst, feeling of heat, rest-lessness, profuse sweating, coarse breathing.

Tongue: Red with dry-yellow coating.

Pulse: Overflowing or Big.

This is the classical pattern of Stomach-Heat at the Qi Level and is identical with the Bright
Yang channel pattern of the 6 Stages. It is often summarized as the "Four Bigs", i.e. high fever,
intense thirst, profuse sweating and Big pulse.

As a stage following an exterior invasion of Wind, it is more common in children than adults.
