Xiao Chai Hu Tang Wan

Explanation


This remedy has the same ingredients and indications as the above decoction.


Stomach and Spleen Damp-Heat


Clinical Manifestations


Continuous fever which decreases after sweating but then returns, a feeling of heaviness of the
body and head, a feeling of oppression of the chest and epigastrium, nausea, loose stools, a
sticky taste.


Tongue: Red with a sticky-yellow coating.


Pulse: Slippery and Rapid.


This type of pattern is a frequent outcome of an invasion of Wind-Heat when it reaches the Qi
level. Damp-Heat in the Centre may easily become chronic in the form of residual pathogenic
factor, giving rise to some forms of postviral fatigue syndromes.


Treatment Principle


Resolve Dampness, harmonize the Stomach, strengthen the Spleen.
