Bright Yang Organ Pattern
High fever which is worse in the afternoon, profuse sweating, constipation, thirst with a desire to
drink cold water, fullness and pain in the abdomen which becomes worse on pressure,
restlessness and irritability, in severe cases delirium. Tongue: Red with a dry, yellow or black
coating. Pulse: Deep-Full-Rapid.
Lesser Yang Stage
Alternation of feeling cold and hot, a bitter taste, a dry throat, blurred vision, a feeling of
distension-fullness of the hypochondrium and chest, no desire to drink or eat, irritability,
vomiting, nausea.
Tongue: white coating on one side only.
Pulse: Wiry-Fine.
Greater Yin Stage
Abdominal fullness, vomiting, no appetite, diarrhoea, no thirst.
Tongue: Pale, white coating.
Pulse: Slow-Deep-Fine.
Lesser Yin Stage
Cold Transformation
Chilliness, lying with body curled up, aversion to cold, listlessness, desire to sleep, cold limbs,
diarrhoea, no thirst or desire for warm liquids, pale-abundant urination.
Tongue: Pale.
