Explanation
- Gui Zhi is pungent and releases the Exterior.
- Bai Shao is sour and absorbing and nourishes Nutritive Qi. The combination of Gui Zhi
and Bai Shao expels Wind by harmonizing Defensive and Nutritive Qi. The slight
sweating is a symptom of deficiency of Nutritive Qi. - Sheng Jiang and Da Zao perform the same function as Gui Zhi and Bai Shao
respectively and they therefore help the first two to harmonize Nutritive and Defensive
Qi. - Gan Cao harmonizes.
This formula is used if there are symptoms of Wind-Cold with slight sweating.
