(Fritillaria-Trichosanthes Powder)
Chuan Bei Mu Bulbus Fritillariae cirrhosae 5 g
Gua Lou Semen Trichosanthis 3 g
Tian Hua Fen Radix Trichosanthis 2.5 g
Fu Ling Sclerotium Poriae cocos 2.5 g
Chen Pi Pericarpium Citri reticulatae 2.5 g
Jie Geng Radix Platycodi grandiflori 2.5 g
Explanation
- Chuan Bei Mu restores the descending of Lung-Qi, stops cough and resolves
Phlegm-Heat. - Gua Lou resolves Phlegm-Heat and relieves fullness in the chest.
- Tian Hua Fen promotes fluids and moistens dryness.
- Fu Ling and Chen Pi help to resolve Phlegm.
- Jie Geng restores the descending of Lung-Qi and stops cough.
This formula is also for Dryness and residual Heat in the Lungs following an invasion of
Wind-Heat, but with the addition of some Phlegm. The cough is therefore dry but with some
scanty and sticky phlegm which is difficult to expectorate. This situation arises because
Wind-Heat may, on the one hand, dry fluids and lead to Dryness and, on the other hand, it
condenses fluids into Phlegm.
