Gall-Bladder Channel


G.B.-40 Qiuxu strengthens the Will-Power and the Mind. It bolsters the person's capacity of
making decisions.


G.B.-13 Benshen calms the Mind, settles the Ethereal Soul and gathers Essence to the head. It is
particularly indicated for severe anxiety and mental restlessness occurring against a background
of a Liver disharmony. It is also for jealousy and suspicion. The "Complete Book of Jing Yue"
(1624) says that this point is for lack of clarity of the Mind deriving from injury of the Ethereal
Soul by sadness.73(252)


This point can be combined with:



  • Du-24 Shenting to enhance its calming effect: the combination of these two points has a
    powerful calming effect on the Mind and Ethereal Soul and they are particularly useful in
    Liver disharmonies.

  • HE-7 Shenmen to calm the Mind in severe anxiety occurring against a background of
    Heart disharmonies.


G.B.-15 Toulinqi calms the Mind and settles the Ethereal Soul. This point is used when the
person is subject to emotional fluctuations and obsessive thoughts.


G.B.-17 Zhengying calms and clears the Mind. It stimulates memory and concentration. It is
indicated in depression.


G.B.-18 Chengling settles the Ethereal Soul and Corporeal Soul and stops obsessive thoughts.
On a physical level, it stimulates the dispersing and descending of Lung-Qi and opens the nose.


Lung Channel


LU-7 Lieque settles and opens up the Corporeal Soul. This point has a releasing effect on
emotions (especially sadness, worry and grief) constraining the Corporeal Soul in the chest.


Directing Vessel


Ren-15 Jiuwei calms the Mind and settles the Corporeal Soul. It is especially indicated to release
emotions constraining the Corporeal Soul in the chest and manifesting with a feeling of
oppression or tightness of the chest. It is a very calming point, especially in mental-emotional
