Dang Gui Radix Angelicae sinensis 9 g
Shu Di Huang Radix Rehmanniae glutinosae praeparata 9 g
Bai Shao Radix Paeoniae albae 9 g
Chuan Xiong Radix Ligustici wallichii 6 g
Mu Gua Fructus Chaenomelis lagenariae 6 g
Zhi Gan Cao Radix Glycyrrhizae uralensis praeparata 3 g
Mai Men Dong Tuber Ophiopogonis japonici 6 g
Suan Zao Ren Semen Ziziphi spinosae 3 g

Explanation



  • The first four herbs constitute the Si Wu Tang Four Substances Decoction which
    nourishes Liver-Blood.

  • Mu Gua and Zhi Gan: one is sour (a taste which enters the Liver and astringes), the
    other sweet (a taste which is tonifying), in combination they nourish Yin.

  • Mai Men Dong nourishes Yin.

  • Suan Zao Ren is astringent, enters the Liver and calms the Mind (in case of irritability).
