Clinical Manifestations


A feeling of oppression and pain in the chest, palpitations, night sweating, insomnia, sore back
and knees, tinnitus, dizziness, 5-palm heat.


Tongue: Red without coating with a Heart-crack.


Pulse: Fine-Rapid.


In this case, as in all cases of Deficiency, the pain in the chest is less severe than in the Excess
conditions. In this pattern, besides the Yin deficiency, there is nearly always some Phlegm too
which causes the feeling of oppression and pain in the chest.


All the other manifestations are typical of Yin deficiency.


Treatment Principle


Nourish Yin, benefit the Kidneys, nourish the Heart, calm the Mind, stop pain.


Acupuncture


General Prescription


BL-14 Jueyinshu, BL-23 Shenshu, Ren-4 Guanyuan, KI-3 Taixi, P-6 Neiguan, Ren-17
Shanzhong, HE-6 Yinxi, KI-25 Shencang.


Explanation



  • BL-14, P-6 and Ren-17 move Qi in the chest and stop pain.

  • BL-23, Ren-4 and KI-3 tonify the Kidneys.

  • HE-6 nourishes Heart-Yin, calms the Mind, stops night sweating and relieves chest pain.

  • KI-25 is a local point for chest pain associated with a Kidney pattern.
