- ST-21 is a local point for all Excess patterns of the Stomach.
- ST-44 is the main distal point to clear Stomach-Heat.

Bai Hu Tang
(White Tiger Decoction)
Shi Gao Gypsum fibrosum 30 g
Zhi Mu Radix Anemarrhenae asphodeloidis 6 g
Geng Mi Semen Oryzae sativae 6 g
Gan Cao Radix Glycyrrhizae uralensis 3 g
Explanation
This is the famous formula to clear Stomach-Heat from the "Discussion of Cold-induced
Diseases" by Zhang Zhong Jing (Han dynasty).
- Shi Gao, cold and pungent, is the main herb to clear Stomach-Heat.
- Zhi Mu clears Stomach-Heat and nourishes Yin fluids.
- Geng Mi is plain brown rice which nourishes Stomach fluids.
- Gan Cao harmonizes.
Variations
- For severe epigastric pain add Bai Shao Radix Paeoniae albae and increase Gan Cao
