Explanation
This formula differs from the previous one in so far as it clears Empty-Heat besides nourishing
Yin. Thus the main sign indicating the use of this formula is a Red tongue without coating, either
all over or only in the centre.
- Bei Sha Shen, Mai Men Dong and Yu Zhu nourish Stomach-Yin.
- Bian Dou nourishes Spleen-Yin.
- Shi Hu clears Stomach Empty-Heat.
- Sang Ye assists Shi Hu in clearing Heat.
- Zhi Gan Cao tonifies the Middle and harmonizes.
Variations
- In case of pronounced acid regurgitation and some Liver-Heat, add Zuo Jin Wan Left
Metal Pill which contains only Huang Lian Rhizoma Coptidis 15 g and Wu Zhu Yu
Fructus Evodiae rutaecarpae 2 g. This formula clears Stomach-Heat and subdues
