This pill has the same ingredients and functions as the homonymous prescription above.
The tongue presentation appropriate to this remedy is a sticky-white coating.
Retention of Damp-Heat
Clinical Manifestations
Foul-smelling yellowish loose stools, abdominal pain, increased frequency of bowel movement,
burning sensation in the anus, feeling of heat, thirst, scanty-dark urine.
Tongue: thick-sticky-yellow coating.
Pulse: Slippery-Rapid.
This may be an external pattern when it is caused by exterior Dampness; the pattern may then
become internal when Dampness is retained for a long time.
Treatment Principle
Clear Heat and resolve Dampness.

Ren-12 Zhongwan, BL-22 Sanjiaoshu, SP-9 Yinlingquan, SP-6 Sanyinjiao, ST-25 Tianshu,
BL-25 Dachangshu, L.I.-11 Quchi, reducing method no moxa.
Explanation
Most of these points have already been explained above for the Damp-Cold type. From the
acupuncture perspective, the treatment of Damp-Cold and Damp-Heat differs only in the use of
moxa.
- L.I.-11 resolves Damp-Heat and stops diarrhoea from Heat. As a Sea point it treats the
Yang organs and specifically diarrhoea (chapter 68 of the "Classic of Difficulties").
