Da Huang Radix Rhei 15 g
Zhi Shi Fructus Citri aurantii immaturus 12 g
Huang Lian Rhizoma Coptidis 6 g
Huang Qin Radix Scutellariae baicalensis 6 g

Ze Xie Rhizoma Alismatis orientalis 6 g

Explanation


This formula, already explained in Chapter 16, is used for diarrhoea from retention of food if
there is Heat as well. Note the use of Da Huang for diarrhoea rather than constipation.



  • Da Huang and Zhi Shi move downward and eliminate Dampness by purging.

  • Huang Lian and Huang Qin clear Damp-Heat.

  • Fu Ling and Ze Xie drain Dampness.

  • Bai Zhu and Shen Qu tonify the Spleen to resolve Dampness and resolve food
    accumulation.
