Explanation
This remedy tonifies and moves Qi and absorbs discharges. Although it is primarily for chronic
vaginal discharge, it is suitable to treat chronic Cloudy Painful-Urination Syndrome against a
background of Qi deficiency.
The tongue presentation appropriate to this remedy is a Pale body with a dirty-dull-white coating
on the root.

Painful-Urination Syndrome: Bladder Damp-Heat-Male, Age 65
A 65-year-old man had been suffering from slight retention of urine for 2 years. Although his
urination was very frequent, also at night, the urine was scanty and hesitant in coming out. It was
also cloudy. His GP had prescribed antibiotics, treating his problem as "cystitis": the antibiotics
did not help his condition at all. His tongue had a sticky-yellow coating on the root and his pulse
was generally Slippery, Full and Rapid. On the position proximal to the left Rear one, felt rolling
the finger proximally, the pulse was very Full, Tight and Slippery. This is the position where the
prostate may be felt.
Diagnosis This is a condition of Cloudy Painful-Urination Syndrome of the
Full-type with Damp-Heat in the Bladder. Most of his symptoms
(retention of urine, frequency, cloudy urine, sticky coating and Slippery
pulse) are due to Dampness. The Full, Tight and Slippery quality on the
