Tonify the Spleen, strengthen the Kidneys, warm Yang.


Acupuncture


General Prescription



  • ST-36 Zusanli, KI-7 Fuliu, Ren-12 Zhongwan, BL-20 Pishu and BL-23 Shenshu with
    reinforcing method to tonify Spleen- and Kidney-Yang. Moxa is applicable.

  • SP-6 Sanyinjiao, SP-9 Yinlingquan, BL-22 Sanjiaoshu and Ren-9 Shuifen with even
    method to eliminate Dampness and oedema.

Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang Variation
(Tonifying the Centre and Benefiting Qi Decoction)


Huang Qi Radix Astragali membranacei 15 g
Dang Shen Radix Codonopsis pilosulae 15 g
Bai Zhu Rhizoma Atractylodis macrocephalae 15 g
Fu Ling Sclerotium Poriae cocos 10 g
Shan Yao Radix Dioscoreae oppositae 15 g
Chai Hu Radix Bupleuri 6 g
Zhi Gan Cao Radix Glycyrrhizae uralensis praeparata 3 g
Lu Jiao Cornu Cervi 10 g

Explanation


All the herbs, except Lu Jiao and Shan Yao, belong to the prescrption Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang
Tonifying the Centre and Benefiting Qi Decoction which tonifies Spleen-Qi and promotes the
raising of clear Qi and the descending of turbid Qi. Lu Jiao is added to tonify Kidney-Yang and
Shan Yao to tonify both Spleen and Kidneys.


If albuminuria is pronounced together with severe symptoms of Qi deficiency, increase the dose
of Huang Qi Radix Astragali membranacei and Dang Shen Radix Codonopsis pilosulae.
