29.4.2 Introducing others


Standard introduction forms are:

Informal/formal:
El señor/la señora Olmedo.
This is señor/señora Olmedo.
Éste/ésta es el señor/la señorita Arenas.
This is señor/señorita Arenas.
Éste/ésta es mi novio/a.
This is my boyfriend/girlfriend.
Informal:
¿Conoces a Fernando?
Have you met Fernando?
Te presento a mi padre.
I’d like you to meet my father or This is my father.
Quiero/quisiera presentarte a Elena, mi mujer.
I’d like to introduce you to Elena, my wife or This is Elena, my wife.
Formal:
¿Conoce usted a mi colega Julio Prado?
Have you met my colleague Julio Prado?
Quiero/quisiera presentarle a mi hija Cecilia.
I’d like to introduce you to my daughter Cecilia.
Permítame que le presente a mi marido.
May I introduce you to my husband?
