30.10.7 How to ask for and give the floor


To ask to speak in the course of a formal meeting you can use the following
expressions:
Pido la palabra... May I say something?
¿Me permite/puedo decir algo? May I say something?
Quisiera decir algo. I’d like to say something.
Tiene la palabra (nombre). (Name) has the floor.
Doy/cedo la palabra a (nombre). I give the floor to (name).
(Nombre) ha pedido la palabra. (Name) has asked to speak

To summarize and abbreviate different points in an argument and to conclude a
presentation, use the following expressions:
