In comparisons involving numerals, use más/menos de

Faltan menos de tres semanas para la Navidad.
There are less than three weeks left before Christmas.

No gana más de doscientos mil al mes.
He/she doesn’t earn more than two hundred thousand per month
(He/she earns about two hundred thousand per month).

Compare the last sentence with:

No gana más que doscientos mil al mes.
He/she earns only two hundred thousand per month (He/she earns
exactly two hundred thousand per month, no more).

37.2.1 Tan+ adjective/adverb +como


Comparisons of equality involving adjectives and adverbs are expressed with the
construction tan... como, ‘as... as’.

Mercedes es tan guapa como su hermana.
Mercedes is as pretty as her sister.

Barcelona es tan cara como Madrid.
Barcelona is as expensive as Madrid.

Su apartamento es tan pequeño como el mío.
His/her apartment is as small as mine.

Isabel habla tan bien como Sebastián.
Isabel speaks as well as Sebastián.

Alfonso conduce tan imprudentemente como su padre.
Alfonso drives as carelessly as his father.

37.2.2 Tanto+ noun +como


Comparisons of equality involving a noun require this construction with tanto...
como, in which tanto agrees in gender (masculine or feminine) and number (singular
or plural) with the noun it refers to.

Él tiene tanto dinero como ella.
He has as much money as her.

Ayer había tanta gente como hoy.
Yesterday there were as many people as today.

Tengo tantos libros como tú.
I have as many books as you.
