10.2.2.3 Special uses:


(a)Suyo has the meaning of ‘particular’, ‘of one’s own’:
Tiene una estructura muy suya.
It has a structure all of its own.
(b) The stressed form of the possessive is sometimes used in place of de + stressed
pronoun, especially in Latin-American spoken Spanish and in some idioms:
alrededor mío (Latin American) (= alrededor de mí) ‘around me’
a pesar suyo (idiom) ‘in spite of him/her/them’
