Magic Squares
Opportunity..................................................................................................................................
You would like to have your students work on some problem-solving skills
while at the same time having some fun in the computer lab. Also, you want
them to be doing math without realizing it! A Magic Square might just be what
you are looking for.
Solution and Overview
You will make a Magic Square worksheet that can be used on the computer so
that the sums are automatically calculated, or you can print out the worksheet
so that the students will have to do the math themselves. For the computer
worksheet, you will lock in the formatting and formulas so that they can not
accidentally be changed.
Creating the Solution
- Set the row height.
Click on the left side of the worksheet on the row heading 8, and drag down
to also highlight rows 9 and 10. Right-click and select Row Height. In the
box, type in 48, and click OK. This will make these three rows the same as
the standard column width.
