c. Now type an X in one of the cells and the cell and font color should turn

brown. You will not be able to see what you typed. If you type in any-

thing else, the cell will not change.

5. Enter a formula to count Xs and copy it down.

a. Go to cell H12 and type in the following formula:

=COUNTIF(B12:G12,”X”)

Press the Enter key.

COUNTIF is one of several built-in Excel statistical functions that al-
