You will create a chart that will calculate the area of the fenced-in enclosure
using all the possible combinations of length and width using an incremental
change of your choice. You will also make a graph to show the change in the
area as the dimensions change.
Creating the Solution
- Enter and format the text as shown below.
a. Select cells A1-B1 and right-click. Select Format Cells; make the font
Ariel, 10 pt, bold and click on the checkbox next to Merge cells under
Alignment. Press Enter.

b. In C1, type in 100. You or your students can vary this amount to explore
different scenarios.
c. Select cells J3-K5 and right-click. Select Format Cells; make the font
Ariel, bold, 16 and click on the checkbox next to Merge cells under
Alignment. Press Enter.

d. Select cell A3 and right-click. Select Format Cells and make the font
