would need to extend the border formatting by two rows. You would also need
to alter the formulas you originally wrote in cells A5 and Q5 to take into
account the extra rows and to extend the values in columns P, R, and S.

  1. In rows P and S, right-click and drag down to extend the series you previ-
ously made in each column. If your students are learning up to the twelves,
    add two more numbers.

  2. In row R, copy down the formula two extra rows.

  3. Click on cell X5. Push the F2 key to enter into Edit mode. In the formula in
the cell, change the “$R$15” entry so that the 15 is a 17. Copy this new
formula down to row 17. Some of the cells in the worksheet may now con-
tain ### instead of numbers, but don’t worry.

  4. Click on cell A14, keep the left mouse button down, and drag to the right
and down to cell K15. Copy this range of cells and paste into cell A16.
Again, you will have cells with ###, but we’ll fix this next.

  5. In cell A5, change the $S$15 so that the 15 is a 17. Copy this new formula
down to row 17. The ### should now be gone.

Note:
Have you visited the “secret” web page at
146Hhttp://www.MrExcel.com/mathfiles/html? You will find a terrific application
there called “EXCEL-lent Math Facts Practice” whose structure is beyond the
scope of this book – easy to use, but hard to build. Download and use it with our
compliments

Tip:
Pound signs (###) indicate that the column is too narrow to display the cell entry. To
automatically adjust the column width, double-click the line between the columns in
the header row. The column to the right will automatically adjust to accommodate the
cell contents in that column.
