  1. Enter the multiplication formula.
In cell F6, you will want to put in a formula to multiply B6 by D6. Type the
    following formula: =B6*D6

  2. Format the multiplication formula cell.
Select cell F6. Select Format → Cells from the menu. On the Number tab,
you will have to make three adjustments.

a. First, in the Category list, change from General to Number. This will
cause options for decimal places and the 1000 separator to appear.

b. Check the box for Use 1000 Separator(,).

c. In the Decimal Places field, type the down arrow on the spin button to
switch to zero (0) decimal places.

After your students have completed their math worksheets, allow them to use
Excel to check their answers. If they type in the terms from their math problem
in the yellow cells, the answer will appear in F6.

The problem with allowing the student to check their answer with a calculator
or with this Excel solution is that the student is directly given the answer. In
the Excel details section, you will learn how to modify the worksheet to guide
the students without giving them the answers.

Tip:
If your answers will likely exceed 1000, then you might want to format cell F6 to
include commas.
