Thomas R. Crowley,age 90, of Rehoboth
Beach, DE passed away peacefully surround-
ed by family on Monday,October 18, 2021 at
Beebe Hospital in Lewes,Delaware.
Tomwas born andraised in theWashington,
DC area to the late ThomasRCrowley
andFrances (Sullivan) Crowley and was the
oldest of five children.
He graduated from Georgetown Preparatory
School in 1949 and later graduated from
Georgetown University.Hewas inducted into
Georgetown Prep Athletics Hall ofFame in
2009 and gavea30second acceptance
speech, as was his way.Hemoved to the
Rehoboth Beach area in the late 1960s and
worked at Angola by the Bay and later helped
start BethanyWest before starting his own

Lawrence David Bohan, M.D., of Annapolis,
MD,died peacefully at home onFriday,
October 15, 2021, surrounded by his loving
family afterabrief illness.Born on July
7, 1936 in Boston, MA to the late JohnJ.
and Grace Hennessy Bohan, Larry was a
graduate of Boston Latin School, Boston
College and Tufts University Medical
School. He began his medical and Naval
career in 1962 with an internship at Chelsea
Naval Hospital in Boston. His marriage to
JoyceKennerly took place the same year.
Twenty years later,Larry retired asaNavy
Captain and Chief of Nephrology at Bethes-
da Naval Hospital, nowWalter Reed. He
then joined the staff at Memorial Hospital
in Easton, MD as an internist and Chief of
Nephrology.Well respected by his patients
and colleagues,Larry enjoyed 41 years
of serving his patients and the medical
community.In2003, retiredasecond time,
he savored many summers at his home in
Oxford, MD and winters inVero Beach, FL.
Of importance to Larry,even in retirement,
was the continuation of his medical edu-
cation and keeping current with develop-
ments in the field of medicine.Endowed
withacurious mind and generous spirit,
Larry read widely and shared with friends
and family his interesting discoveries and
reading recommendations.Many of these
communications were laced with his spe-
cial, insightful brand of humor.Larry was a
friend and mentor to many in his medical
circle and to his children and their families
and friends.Hepossessedasingular capac-
ity to make others feel valued and support-
ed. He wasadevoted husband, brother,
father and grandfather.Larry is survived
by his wife of 59 years,Joyce Bohan; his

March 23, 1920, passed away
on October 21, 2021, at the
age of 101. Lou loved his work,
his family,his friends and his
Jewish Heritage.Hewas the
loving husband of Estelle
(Babe)Kornhauser,who died in 1997 and
Dorothy CooperKornhauser with whom he
shared the last 21 years of his life.Lou
was devoted to his daughter,Judy (Martin)
Protas; his son, Robert (Iris)Kornhauser;
four grandchildren, two step-grandchil-
dren, and six great-grandchildren.
After earning degrees at WilsonTeacher’s
College and Columbia University,heproud-
ly served four years in the United States
Army in WWII, including 22 months in the
SouthPacific theatre.
As an educator,Lou was hired as the
first male elementary school teacher in the
District and the principal ofasegregated
school following the landmark decision in
Brownv. Board of Education. As Director
ofaFordFoundation national program, he
worked to improve the educational lives
of low-income citizens.After retirement
from theD.C.School System, he served
in an executive capacity at the School of
Education at GeorgeWashington University.
In private life,Lou was president of the
LeisureWorld Lions Club andagrandfather-
ly fixture atWashington Hebrew Congrega-
tion where he received anAvodahAward
forTemple and Community Service.
Graveside funeral services and burial will
occur on October 25, 2021, at 11 a.m.
at Mount Lebanon Cemetery in Adelphi,

13, 2021. She lovingly devoted her life to

Virginia met John at the University of Maryland
where they were married. She graduated with
an education degree specializing in English and
Spanish. She taught school while John finished
his medical training and then managed his
solo medical ophthalmology practice.Virginia
enjoyed attending music,theater and sports
events.She was most passionate about her
family.She wasawoman of integrity and
determination who set the highest standards
for herself in all aspects of her life.Aprivate

infectious smile,she brought happiness and

deeply missed by all for her unconditional love,

he retired in the late 1960s.Heremained a
resident of theWashington, DC-area, work-

tractors into the 1990s.Most recently he
wasalong-time resident ofaretirement
community (Buckingham’sChoice) near
Frederick, Maryland.
In retirement, among other activities,he
pursuedarenewed interest in family history
and genealogy with other family members.
He wasahereditary member of the Massa-
chusetts Society of the Cincinnati represent-
ingadirect ancestor (Lt. Col. Wm. Stacy)
who served as an officer in the Massachu-
setts Continental line and who fought in
the battle of Bunker Hill, among others.He
wasalong-time volunteer in the research
library at Anderson House,the national head-
quarters of the Society of the Cincinnati in
Washington, DC.Asaretired naval officer,he
was particularly pleased to discover that two
Stacy ancestors had sailed with JohnPaul
Jones during the RevolutionaryWar(William
in the Ranger and Samuel in the Bonhomme
Richard) and had personally participated in
the earliest exploits of theU.S.Navy.
Cdr.Stacy (known as “Jack” to family and
close friends) was preceded in death by his
parents,Dewey Dee and Edythe Gertrude
(Weinstock) Stacy.Hewas one of six children,
including an older brother,RobertD.(wife
Pat), and sisters Iris McClure (James), Betty
Carr (Max), and Ruth Dick (James), and
younger brother JohnD.(“Jake”, Jean). He
had, as well,aclose brother-in-law John
J.Gregory (Capt., USN,retired, and wife
Shirley). Cdr.Stacy is survived by his beloved
wife of 70 years,Mary,and their four children:
John Gregory (“Greg”, and wife Jeanne),
Karen, David (Amy), and Timothy (Lisa). He
was blessed with nine grandchildren, and (at
last count) six great-grandchildren.
Following private funeral services he will be
inurned at theU.S.Naval Academy Columbar-
ium overlooking the Severn River in Annapo-
lis.

EDWARD FROST STACY
AretiredU.S.Navy commander and aviator,
died of natural causes on October 12, 2021
at the age of 96 years.Cdr.Stacy was born
on September 25, 1925. He wasanative of
Marietta, Ohio andadescendant of an early
pioneer family of that state with roots in
colonial Massachusetts.Hegrew up on the
family farm and apple orchard in Oak Grove,
on the outskirts of Marietta. He attended
Marietta College and wasa1948 graduate
of theU.S.Naval Academy.Atthe Academy
he wasavarsity fencer (saber) and always
enjoyed pointing out the star he earned for
beating Army,togowith his letter “N.” On
February 3, 1951, asayoung naval aviator,he
married Mary Elizabeth Gregory,ofWashing-
ton, DC with whom heraised four children.
During his service years he attended the
ArmedForces Staff College and received a
graduate degree from GeorgeWashington
University.Asanaviator he flew anti-sub-
marine aircraft and had duty with theU.S.
Navy Hurricane Hunter squadron based in
Jacksonville,Florida. Over three years he
flew weather reconnaissance missions into
twelve named storms.One of his most vivid
memories asanaval aviator was observing
from the air asapowerful and devastating
Hurricane Audrey made landfall in southern
Louisiana in June 1957. Other assignments
included tours asashipboard navigator in

Of Culpeper and formerly of Arlington, Virginia,
passed away at The Culpeper retirement com-
munity on Saturday, September 25, 2021.
Born in Steinsburg,PA,onFebruary 10, 1922,
she was the daughter of Thomas and Carrie
(Benner)Kemmerer.OnNovember 28, 1940,
she married Levern L. Ziegler of Souderton,PA.
Dorothy attendedschool in Steinsburg and
Quakertown,PA.She worked asasecretary for
theFederal Governmentinthe Departments of
the Navy,Army and AirForce from 1942-1952.
Later,she wasaLegal Secretary inWashington,
DC and worked in property management for
M.T.Broyhill and Sons in Arlington,VA.
Dorothy and Levern lived in Norfolk,VA,during
WWII, then moved to Arlington toraise their
daughters,Jane and Judy.They retiredto
Culpeper in 1989.
Dorothy was predeceasedbyher husband in
2008.
Amemorial service celebrating Dorothy’slife
will be held in the Spring of 2022, the year in
which she would have had her 100th birthday.
Interment will be at the National Cemetery in
Culpeper.

Loving son, brother,and uncle,Marc Stewart,
passed away on October 13, 2021 after a
short illness.Marc grew up with his family in
Fairfax,VAand attended Oakview Elementary
School andJamesW.Robinson Secondary
School, graduating in 1990. He attended Mary
Washington andJames Madison Universities,
receiving his Bachelor of Science in Economics
degree from JMU in 1994 and wasadedicated
member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
In 1997 he married the late Erin Elizabeth
Frey fromFairfax. During his career,Marc
worked for MicroStrategy inTysons,Va. and the
Public Company Accounting Oversight Board
in Washington, DC.
He wasaworld traveler and an avid skier,
snowboarder,and soccer player.Hehad a
deep love for theWashingtonFootballTeam,
the band, Rush and enjoyed sparring about
politics.Marc lived life to the fullest and was a
lover of all types of music,food, and wine.He
made friends wherever he went. At the time
of his death he was living in Miami, Florida.
He will forever be missed by his parents,Ken
andLynn of ScottsValley,CA; his brother,Lee;
sister-in-law,Michelle; and nephew Kingston
ofWatsonville,CA;hisaunts,uncle,cousins,
extended family and many devoted friends
around the country.

Megahan and her husband, David, of

Megahan, of NewYork City.
Doug was born on April 28, 1959, in St.
Louis,MO,to Dr.John andJanese (Kitchen)
Welty.Hegraduated from Clayton High
School, Clayton, MO,in1977 and earned
abachelor’sdegree in Comparative Litera-
ture from Northwestern University in 1981.
Doug’spowerful baritone voice and his
passion for singing gained him admittance
to New England Conservatory of Music in
Boston, from which he receivedaBachelor
of Music inVocal Performance.Hewas a
solo artist for various operacompanies,in
off- Broadway shows and on tours.Doug’s
excellent communication skills were key
to his success in both the private and the
public sector.Hewas the National Public
AffairsTraining Manager for FEMA for 10
years before moving to the position of
Director of Public Affairs for the Office of
Inspector General for the Department of
State.

and Rudy moved from Wheaton, MD to Ful
ton, MD where theyraised their youngest
daughter Donna, tended their garden and
were active members of St. Louis Church.
Rudy loved spending time with his wife
and five children, fishing and crabbing the
Chesapeake Bay,exploring Skyline Drive,and
golfing at NorthwestPark. There were end-
less barbeques in our back yard, with rounds
of tether ball, croque,badminton and back
yard gymnastics.Hetaught us how to clean
fish, pick crabs and shuck oysters.Wespent
summer vacations yearly at Kill Devil Hills,
NC where we rode the waves onrafts,
sledded down the Sand Dunes,climbed the
Hatteras Light House,and crabbed the back
waters of the bays.Atnight dad would light
abonfire on the beach and we would sit
on driftwood logs,under the stars,roasting
marshmallows.
Our thanks to his wonderful caretakers,Mary
Ellen, Eunice,Rebecca and Elizabeth. May
God Bless them as they ensured he was able
to spend his final days in the place he loved
so much, his home.
Rudy is survived by his son Richard Biro of
Daytona Beach, FL; three daughters and their
husbands Margie (David)Young of Naples,
FL, Joanie (Joe) Rosati of Solomon’s,MD,
and Donna (Jim) Beck of Mt Airy,MD; two
grandsons Andrew Biro of Honolulu, HI and
Richard Carlton Smallwood III (Sarah) who
is serving in the Navy in Oak Harbor,WA.
Rudy was predeceased by his wife Margaret
Dulaney Biro (Peggy Du); his daughter Bar-

On Sunday,September 5, 2021. Dad passed
away peacefully at home.Hewas 99 years
old andalifelongWashingtonian, born at
Walter Reed hospital on July 12th, 1922.
Rudy grew up exploring the Potomac River
with his twin brother John in Anacostia. They
ventured to the river and watch the Navy’s
ships heading to and from the DC Navy
Yard. He attended Anacostia High School
where he lettered in football and played
for the golf team. Rudy joined the Naval
Reserves at the age of 17 and isaWorld
WarIIveteran. He served in the Atlantic
andPacific before marrying his wife Peggy-
Du at StFrancis Xavier Catholic Church on
October 18, 1947. Rudy wasaPlank Owner
and Chief Gunner’sMate on the sub hunter
and Destroyer Escort, the USS Stewart, DE
238; nowamuseum in Galveston, TX. Rudy

He served for many years in the Juvenile
Division and with The Boys and Girls Clubs
