Careers of Women


Itisrightthatearningafamily'slivingisanobligatorydeedoftheman,
andthatwomenarenotIslamically(asperIslamiclaws)responsiblefor
thisact.Women, however,shouldalsohaveajob.InIslam,idlenessis
discredited and reproached.


"ImamSadiq(AS)stated: 'The AlmightyAllah hatestoo much sleep
and too much test'."' "Imam Sadiq (AS) also stated: 'Too much sleep
wastesandruinsbothone's worldlylifeandthereligion(thelifeinthe
world Hereafter).


HazratZahra(AS)alsousedtoworkathome.Anyone,inneedornot,
shouldhaveajob.Heshouldnotwastehislifebynotdoinganything,
but he should work and offer his share in building a better world.


Ifnecessary,oneshouldspendhisearningsforhisfamilyandhimself,
butifnotneededthenheshoulddonatehisearningsfromworktothose
whoneedhishelp.Idlenessistediousand,moreoftenthannot,causes
mental and psychological disorders, as well as moral corruption.


Thebest jobfor marriedwomenisto takecare ofthe house.House-
keeping.childcare,etcarethe bestandtheeasiestjobsthat womencan
do. A talented and hardworkinghousewife can turn her house into a
heavenlyplaceforherchildrenandhusband;andthisisavaluableand
worthwhile job.


"TheProphet(SA)stated:'Awoman'sJihadiswhensheattendstoher
husband (and takes care of him well)'." Ummmu Salamah asked the
Prophet (SA): 'How much reward isthere fora woman's housework?'
