Unfortunately thisquality has remained with somepeople from the
timeofjahilliyah(ageofignorance)thattheydoubtthehumannatureof
the female sex. They are ashamed or having daughters and feel belittled.
Intheageofignorancepeopleusedtoburytheirbabydaughtersalive.
The Holy, Qur'an mentions their deeds and states:
"Andwhenadaughterisannouncedtooneofthem,hisfacebecomes
blackandheisfullofwrath(16:58).""Hehideshimselffromthepeople
becauseofthe evilofthat whichisannounced tohim.Shallhekeepit
withdisgraceorburyit(alive)inthedust?Nowsurelyeviliswhatthey
judge" (16:59)
ButIslamdenouncesthiswrongideaandregardsmenandwomenas
equal."TheProphet(SA)ofIslamstated:'Thebestofyour childrenare
your daughters'.''"TheProphet (SA) ofIslam alsostated The sigh ofa
lucky woman is that her first child is a girl. "In addition, the Holy,
Prophet (SA) stated: Whoever looks after three daughters Paradise
would become incumbent upon him.
Ifa girlwasinferior Allahwould nothavemadehis (Prophet's(SA)
descendantslinecontinuethroughHazratZahra(AS).Dearsir:youare
claimingtobeacivilisedandmodernhumanbeing,soabstainfromhav-
ingsuchevilthoughts.Whatdifferencedoesitmakeifyouhaveagirlor
aboy?Theyare bothyouroffspring’sandbothcanaadvancetowards
perfection.Agirlalsocanbecomeaprominentpersonalitythroughyour
correct care and education. A girl is in some respects better than a boy.
Firstly,agirlismoresympathetictotheirparents.Boysusuallydonot
benefittheirparentswhentheygrowupandbecomeindependent.Girls,
ifparentsdonotplaceanypreferenceontheirsons,wouldbemorelov-
ing towards them.
Secondly,agirlrequireslessexpense, ascomparedtoaboy,because
shegenerallyspendslesstimeinherparents housesinceshegetsmar-
riedatanearlierageandleavesherparentswithonlyafewitemsforher
newlife.Butboysbecomeyoungmenwhomaystaywiththeirparents
foralongtime. Theparents wouldhaveto payforhis education,find
himajob,mayhavetopayhisexpensesduringhistwoyearsofmilitary
service,wherevernecessary,andthenmarryhimofftoayoungwoman.
