Talksofthiskindcanbeheardamongafairlylargepercentageofthe
femalepopulation ofanysociety.Womenwhoareusedtothismanner
ofspeaking.asamatteroffact,donotthinkofthegraveconsequences
whichmightfollow.Theydonotthinkthattheirgossipingorpickingup
faults could lead to divorce or even murder.
Suchwomenaretrulydemonsinahumanform.Theyaretheenemies
offamilies. Theycreatestrifeamongthe familiesandturntheir houses
into darkandhorrible dungeons. Whatshouldone do? Thisis a com-
ponentofoursocieties.EventhoughIslamhasfirmlyprohibitedusfrom
such deeds we are not prepared to give them up.
"TheProphet(SA)ofAllahstated:'Oh!Thoseofyouwhoclaimtobe
Muslims,butfailedtoletfaithenterintoyourhearts,donotspeakillof
Muslims and do not find faults with them. Whoever find faults with
people,thenAlmightyAllahwillbe doingjust thesamewhilelooking
into their faults; and in that case they would be disgraced among the
people, even though they may remain in their own houses'."63
Theseevil-characterisedwomenmaypursueoneormanygoals.They
gossipforthe sakeofrevengein orderto breakupafamily.Theymay
doitbecauseofjealousyorself-glorification.Theymightwanttocover
theirowndeficienciesordeceivethesimplewomen.Theymaywantto
pretend that they are sympathetic. They sometimes gossipfor amuse-
mentanddonot pursueanygoalotherthansatisfyingtheirdistasteful
desires.Butwhat one can be sureof isthat deeds of thiskindare not
committed in order to help others and that such acts could have dis-
astrous effects.
The readers have surely come across certain events which have oc-
curred as the result of gossip. The following is such a case:
