her Music Education degree and became
Montgomery County Public Schools’ newest
elementary music teacher.She retired 20
and one-half years later, most notably from
Candlewood Elementary School.
Unsurprisingly she wasalifelong fan of
music,musicals,and the performing arts,
listening to music until the very end. Nancy
loved to travel and frequently visited her
family throughout the United States.Itis
poignant to lose her at this time of year as
she loved to go to Skyline Drive each fall to
see the leaves turn.
Nancy wasa30-year resident of Silver Spring
MD,and previouslya22-year resident of
Kensington MD.Throughout this time she
was amember of the Christ Episcopal Church
Kensington, in the early years helping the
church to adapt the facility for disabled
parishioners. She made lifelong friends at the
church who joined her in travel, going to
shows,enjoying meals,and laughing.Nancy
will be remembered for her goodness and
kindness as well as being steadfast in her
faith.
When we reminisce about Nancy,wewill
say we knew someone who loved her job,
her family, and who imparted her knowledge
and love of music to thousands of children.
We will rememberafighter,and someone
who overcame all of life’schallenges to lead
ahappy and full life.Wewill treasure that
legacy.
Acelebration of her life will be held at
Christ Episcopal Church, 4001Franklin St,
Kensington on October 29 at1p.m. She will
be interred after the service in the church’s
memorial garden wall.
