Interior Lighting for Designers

(Elliott) #1

Continuous, linear, point-source
wall-wash. Uniform lighting is also provided
by a grazing light from luminaires located
close to the surface being illuminated (figure
13.11). The same square rule applies: the
lamps are spaced on centers closer than or
equal to their distance from the wall. Again,
the center-to-center spacing varies with the
ceiling height and the light intensity desired

on the wall surface. The goal is also the
same: to provide the perception of uniform
brightness both horizontally across the wall
and vertically from top to bottom.
A full-scale mock-up tests for the follow-
ing:

  1. Beam-spread overlap (spot beam-
spreads usually require a spread lens).
