Closing Thought – Finding Your Own Voice
(^) Have you ever noticed that some guitar players have a very distinctive and unique sound. I can listen to a song
and tell pretty quickly if it is a guitarist I am fhow they phrase things and in their technique – whaamiliar with is playing on that project. You can jt notes they choose and how they play them. My kidsust “hear” it in will
often ask me as we are riding in the car listening “Dad, is that you playing? It sounds just like you.to the radio or to a CD that has some guitar playin” Sometimes it is and sometimes it isn’t. But I will always get g on it
a kick out of it when they ask if it is me and I knlot. It shows that I have incorporated into my own ow it is one of the guitar players that I listen toplaying the things that I have liked about someone and respect a else’s
style. This is how it will become with you and yostarting to develop your own unique sound on the inur playing. Each guitarist “speaks” a little bit dstrument. I have tried to teach you over the span ifferently and by now you are of this course the letters,
syllables and words of guitar playing, but it is upwhen you play. Keep up the great work! to you to develop your own “voice” in playing. Start trying to say something

Tips for Successful Learning



  • Practice These Techniques. These techniques will be useless to you until you have practiced them
    enough to develop the physical motions involved so still slightly unsure about a particular technique, then when it comes time to use it in a real playinthat they can be used easily in a playing situationg situation you will. If you are
    not feel comfortable enough with it to use it and ythreshold in your knowledge of these or any other tou will avoid it. If you don’t cross over this physechniques then they will relegated to stuff you knoical comfort w but can’t
    use. Take the time needed to get the physical aspeexercises and experiment with the different techniques so that when it comes time to use them in a reacts of these techniques comfortable for you. Play through the l playing
    situation you will feel comfortable enough with them to try them.

  • Incorporate Them into Soloing.solo. All of the Jam-Along songs at this stage wil Once these techniques are learned, try to experimenl give you great practice with soloing. I encouragt with them as you e you to play
    through the songs many times, experimenting with dibegin to “hear” which notes sound better and which techniques you like. This type of practice is invafferent ideas and techniques each time. Eventuallyluable towards , you will
    developing your ear and in translating the ideas that you hear in your head through your instrument.

  • You can play the major scale bending exercise on page 77 of your lesson book
    accurately. bends. But the world doesn’t need another sloppy guRemember to bend the notes to a pitch. This takes itar player. control. It is a lot easier to be sloppy with

  • You can play harmonics, slides, hammer-ons and pull-offs correctly.

  • You have played through all of the bonus exercises and the Jam-Along songs
    with the tracks.
