A monumental leap in our ability to resolve conflict is understanding
that much of our conflict is rooted in personality. People are simply fol-
lowing the blueprint of their own personality—just as we are.
Much of our disconnection with clients, the lack of cooperation, and
inability to persuade boils down to seeing matters from the other person’s
perspective. In the next chapter, “Understanding Your Personality DNA,” I
explain the strengths, challenges, areas of improvement, and common re-
lational liabilities for each of the four personalities. Once you understand
these factors, your EQ skills will improve as you begin reviewing liabilities
and viewing situations through the eyes of the client. The thought process
of moving from me to we begins by recognizing that, on the basis of core
personality differences, what works for me doesn’t necessarily work for you.
