Selling With Emotional Intelligence : 5 Skills For Building Stronger Client Relationships

Challenges

The Achilles heel of Motivators is impulsiveness. They are often guilty
of leaping before they look. Many Motivators live by the motto, “Ready, fire,
aim!” They often pull the trigger prematurely. Contrarily, the Togetherness
personality’s approach would be “Ready, aim, fire, because that’s the way
you’re supposed to do it.” The Analyzer would say, “Ready, aim... aim...
aim... have we run this past compliance yet?” And the Enterpriser would
skip the “Ready” and just say, “Fire!”
Motivators often have trouble with freedom of thought (foot-in-mouth
disease) and blurt words out they later wish they hadn’t. This happens be-
cause Motivators literally think out loud. Motivators also tend to oversell
when under pressure, dominate conversation, and have trouble focusing
when someone else is talking.
