Feeling
Build on the positive: What are one or two habits that serve you well and that you want to continue?

Now face the music: What are one or two habits that you are dissatisfied with and want to change?

How can you create a sense of urgency to marshal your emotional resources behind changing a specific habit?

[☛5.1 Change Equation, 5.8 Human Transitions]

Thinking
What is your vision or image of the new habit? How would the new habit help you succeed?

[☛2.4 Visioning]
Write out your vision of the “new you” or your goal for the change.

[☛2.7 Goal Statements]
Share this vision or goal with a number of supporters, and ask for their help. (You may wish to engage someone as your
change coach.)

[☛13.1 Coaching]

Acting
The stairway to heaven is a stairway, not an elevator. That is, often there is a daunting gap between the current situa-
tion (your current habit) and your vision of the desired state (your new way of working). This is where intermediate
goals or mileposts can be useful. Write out the intermediate goals or first steps that will be necessary to successfully
change the habit in question.
