justified sentences or propositions. A
further version of the latter is that a true
proposition is one that would be war-
ranted to an ideal inquirer or community
of inquiry. These accounts have the bur-
den of explaining or analyzing an account
of inquiry without using the concept of
truth, that is, if you are going to explain

the concept of truth in terms of inquiry,

you fall into circularity if you then explain

the concept of inquiry in terms of truth.

Truth and falsehood may also be recog-

nized in expanded frameworks in which

philosophers debate authenticity (e.g.,

authentic as opposed to spurious or mis-

leading experiences) (e.g., a true friend).
