ince the best-selling portraits are those that show the client as they re-
ally are, I thought it fitting to start out our look at techniques for pos-
ing on location with poses that have the subject on the ground. When
a subject is on the ground, the overall feeling is comfort; when you pose a
group of people on the ground, there is a feeling of closeness.


Clothing and Location Selection.


As we’ve already discussed, the clothing the client wears must match the scene
and the pose. In this case, we know that our pose will have a relaxed look.
Therefore, the clothing and setting should have a casual feel. Jeans and
