BENDER Sir Brian KCB died peacefully at
home on 4th November, after a long illness,
which he faced with tremendous courage
and grace. Loving husband to Penny,

LEWENDON Group Captain John Massey
died peacefully on 5th November 2021,
aged 91. Much-loved and loving husband to
June. Devoted father of David with great
fondness for his daughter-in-law Clare and
a very proud grandfather of Freddie and
Archie. A gracious man with a gentle sense
of humour. In a private family service, John
will be buried among the wildflowers of
Clayton Wood in the Sussex countryside.

MERIVALE Josephine (Jo) (née Vaughan

which only achieved an average
grade.
Many years later I became
good friends with the professor’s
son-in-law. My wife recently
discovered the essay and I
showed it to my friend. He took
it away to show the professor.
Much to our surprise it was re-
turned, re-marked and with a
better grade.
