A 12-year-old girl and her mother designed this
game as a fun way for family members to engage
with one another. There are six types of card
categories, including questions that will help you
learn things about each other as well as dance
challenges. Try it at a holiday gathering.

A

nimal Crossing 2.0 is a big update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, a
hit Nintendo Switch game. The free update can be downloaded now.
There is so much added content in Animal Crossing 2.0 that it feels like a
new game. It off ers more activities, skills to learn, and items to collect. There
are also more characters, including some from earlier Animal
Crossing games. One familiar face is Brewster, a pigeon that runs
The Roost, a coff ee shop in the museum. You can hang out
there with up to seven people. Kapp’n is another returning
classic character. In Japan, a “kappa” is a mythical turtle-like
animal that likes to play tricks on humans. In the game,
Kapp’n is a kappa who is a ferry captain. Using Nook Miles (an
in-game currency), you can take his boat to new islands.

One upgraded location is Harv’s Island. It used to mainly be a photo
studio, but now it’s fi lled with shops. The island is co-run by Harriet, a poodle
with a barber shop. For a few bells (another currency), she’ll give you a cut.
There are great new features for foodies and farmers too. Before, the
game’s only crop was pumpkins, but now you can grow potatoes,
wheat, sugarcane, carrots, and tomatoes. Instead of just selling
them, you can use them in the game’s new cooking mode.
If you’re into decorating, the update allows you to choose
room styles, add items like lights and fans, and even change
the outside of your house. Animal Crossing also just released a
new downloadable addition called Happy Home Paradise. It
costs $24.99 and lets you design islands for new visitors.
