12.7.3 Injuries to the periodontal tissues


Concussion


The impact force causes oedema and haemorrhage in the p.l. and the tooth is tender to
percussion (t.t.p.). There is no rupture of p.l. fibres and the tooth is firm in the socket.


Subluxation


In addition to the above there is rupture of some p.l. fibres and the tooth is mobile in
the socket, although not displaced (730HFig. 12.35). The treatment for both these injuries
