organizations, In 2020, the gig economy
grew by 33%, expanding 8.25x faster than
the US economy as a whole, with two million
Americans trying out gig work for the first time.
According to one study, an incredible 34% of
the US workers are now involved in the gig
economy, and with 4 in 5 businesses saying they
plan to hire more workers in the gig economy, it
makes sense that the industry is changing in this
way. However, there are serious concerns about
workers rights, earning a fair wage, and taxation
that needs to be addressed. In the UK, for
example, a recent Supreme Court ruling found
that Uber drivers should be treated as workers,
not independent contractors, and this could
have far-reaching and costly consequences for
gig-economy firms and other companies, not
only in the UK but around the world. Apps and
partners will need to work together to find a way
forward and ensure workers are protected.

DoorDash is widely considered one of the best
delivery apps in the United States, with a flat
$5.99 fee no matter how much you order. They
offer free delivery on your first order, too, so it’s
worth checking them out. GrubHub is another
app to consider, with its delivery fee set by each
restaurant rather than the app itself. UberEats is
one of the biggest players, whilst Seamless has
also grown in popularity in recent years. GoPuff,
on the other hand, allows you to order everyday
grocery items to your home - ideal if you need
to quickly stock the fridge or get a couple of
essentials in for a party. Whether you want Ben
& Jerry’s, Tide Pods or Cheetos, they’ve got you
covered, and delivery is a low $1.95 as a flat rate,
which helps.
