The painting above brings the design thinking towards

representation of form and its location within the city.

Although the image is still very open and abstract, the three-

dimensional context of the site is more evident. The existing

urban grain and river are represented and a small outline

proposal for the building is shown sitting loosely within that

context. The parallel and crossing ‘streams’ of the building

are shown in more resolved detail at a bigger scale and

the layering of these streams is expressed. At this stage,

paintings and three-dimensional modelling are not intended

to be literally translated into architecture, they are diagrams

and images of what the building could be.
