IMPLEMENTATION
Nursing Interventions *denotes collaborative interventions Rationale
Verbalizing feelings is an initial step toward deal-
ing with them in an appropriate manner.Positive feedback increases the likelihood of
continued performance.Clients with conduct disorders frequently experi-
ence rejection. The client needs support to
increase self-esteem, while understanding that
behavioral changes are necessary. The client may have been receiving the majority
of attention from others when he or she was en-
gaged in problematic behavior, a pattern that
needs to change.Encourage the client to openly discuss his or her
thoughts and feelings.Give positive feedback for appropriate discussions.Tell the client that he or she is accepted as a per-
son, although a particular behavior may not be
acceptable.Give the client positive attention when behavior
is not problematic.500 Unit 4 NURSINGPRACTICE FORPSYCHIATRICDISORDERS
