Time Management : Set Priorities to Get the Right Things Done

(Darren Dugan) #1

TIME MANAGEMENT

Indeed, respect and focus are both at the
heart of managing time—both yours and that
of others. Being considerate of the time of your
subordinates, coworkers, and boss requires as
much discipline as protecting and organizing
your own time. Encouraging people to remain
focused on goals and tasks that are critical to the
business—and to dedicate their time to accom-
plishing those goals—can be a challenge.

RESPECTING OTHER PEOPLE’S TIME

Perhaps the best way to gauge how important it
is to respect the time of others is to think of how
you feel when a boss, coworker, or subordinate

14–17 You have a fairly well-balanced
approach to work and life. You
are susceptible, however, to
manipulation by bosses who
will gobble up time that would
otherwise be yours. Beware of
being talked into doing tasks
that will eat up your valuable
time. At some point, you will
need to decide what you truly
value and reflect that in how
you choose to use your time
17–20 You understand that more
can be done in less time
