Time Management : Set Priorities to Get the Right Things Done

(Darren Dugan) #1
ORGANIZE YOUR TIME

the project’s due date to the present. Plot the
sequence of tasks that need to be completed to
get you to the fi nish line. These tasks may not
always be evenly distributed throughout the
course of the project, but rather grouped tightly
together at certain intervals.
Take a cue from moviemakers, who rarely
shoot scenes in the order the audience sees.
Don’t be afraid to complete tasks out of order.
You may choose to fi nish the last piece of the
project fi rst and the third piece seventh if it will
help you maximize resources and key players.
Engage your team’s help to determine what tasks
can be done quickly and inexpensively and which

inspiring, as well as helping, you.
Most critically, freelancers can help
you accelerate your project schedule.
Freelancers tend to be conscientious
because their livelihood depends
on referrals and repeat business.
If you anticipate that you won’t be
able to meet your deadline with staff
resources, don’t wait until the eleventh
hour. Ask your boss or the human-
resources department for whatever
outside resources you need and call in
reinforcements.
